Gerchick Real Estate
Linda Gerchick is the dynamic visionary who has made Gerchick Real Estate one of the top-producing and top-grossing commercial real estate brokerages in Phoenix since its opening. Linda has been Realtor for nearly 20 years, but her involvement in real estate goes back much further. She bought her first investment property at age 17 and has continued to buy and sell land and property ever since.
In addition, she also amassed a wealth of business experience as a successful breeder and seller of Arabian horses for many years before turning her passion for real estate into the career that defines and drives her today. It was during that time she developed and honed her ability to work well with both seasoned and first-time investors, selling horses to a wide range of clients – from the Prince of Saudi Arabia to small rural families. She also learned the art of negotiating from a master: legendary American businessman Dr. Armand Hammer.
Now, with a reputation as a fair but tough and skilled negotiator possessing an uncanny grasp of market trends, Linda delivers her commercial real estate clients – both buyers and sellers – the best deals possible to make them the most profit. She is very tightly dialed into the market through a vast and carefully vetted network of professionals and use of cutting-edge technology that allows her and her company to mine the immense amount of data necessary to anticipate rather than simply react to the market’s shifts.
Linda was born in Nebraska, raised in Phoenix and has lived in the Valley of the Sun most of her life. As a real estate agent, she was affiliated first with Prudential and later RE/MAX and Keller Williams. Linda learned the value of teamwork early on, and led a group of commercial investment agents at RE/MAX to rankings of #2 and #4 with Commercial Closed Sales in the world, two consecutive years. Keller Williams Commercial recruited her in 2009 to head up the Northeast Valley office’s commercial division, and in 2010 she was tapped by the PTE Real Estate Group to join US Investment Realty and spearhead a newly formed commercial division for the company. She later branched out to open her own brokerage, Linda Gerchick Real Estate, headquartered in North Phoenix.
Linda has been a part of the elite CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) group since 2005, attesting to her commitment to her clients and their bottom line. The CCIM designation requires intense study of a rigorous curriculum, documentation of a high level of successful real estate transactions and comprehensive examination, followed by continuing education to keep each CCIM on top of the industry’s regulations, swift changes and refinements. It also means connection with a global network of CCIM members and other brokers and developers around the country who help Linda and her company source and finance various commercial real estate opportunities, mostly in the multifamily arena. Linda has sold more than 2,000 four-plexes and a plethora of apartment buildings, office buildings and retail centers, among other properties.
She has given seminars throughout Arizona, California and Canada, sharing her extensive knowledge. She provides free tools and information to investors and has hosted many on visits to explore and invest in the Phoenix market.
For Linda, it all comes down to relationships and helping people make their portfolios grow. “I believe in developing an ongoing relationship with my clients, based on trust and the knowledge that my company and I always have their best interests in mind. That’s why our clients are so loyal to us and keep coming back, deal after deal,” she says.
Linda also has engendered a loyalty from her agents and assistants, through her belief in sharing what she has learned and celebrating each success as a group. “Teachable moments” give her the opportunity to impress upon her agents and staff the whys and wherefores of doing business – the right way, lifting the credibility of the brokerage, but more important, the entire industry.
“I am very proud of my staff, very proud of my agents and, frankly, I give myself a pat on the back. It’s because of all of us working together so well, and with such commitment to excellence, that our office is continuing to grow,” she says. “This brokerage’s success – and the success of each individual – depends on having knowledgeable professionals who are dedicated to building lasting relationships with our clients and providing the highest level of service, every single day. That’s what we do. You can depend on it.”

Chris Norton is still learning, and he doesn’t plan to change that – ever.
It makes him even more valuable as a member of the Gerchick Real Estate team.
Chris has a B.S. degree from Drexel University, with a major in computer science and minor in film & video production, both are skill sets he has found useful for a real estate career. He also has spent the last several years gathering valuable real-life, in the streets know-how in real estate as a private investor.
Chris has made it a point to surround himself with people of “vastly superior experience” in real estate investing to make the most of his learning and investment opportunities. He has been personally mentored on seller-financing strategies for single-family properties from John Burley, learned about tax liens and tax deed investing from Jack Bosch, studied multifamily strategies from Dave Lindahl and note investing under Eddie Speed.
Experience matters, especially in a dynamic, changing market like Phoenix, he says.
“I have a keen interest in multifamily,” Chris says. “I think it’s a phenomenal cash-flow investment vehicle and want to accelerate my learning and experience on the subject. What better way to do that than to join a firm like Gerchick Real Estate with an expert like Linda Gerchick at its helm?”
Even if a subject is outside his “niche,” he is interested in learning more about it. “There’s always a nugget you can take away and apply to what you’re doing,” and that demonstrates the level of commitment he has for understanding his clients’ needs. “It shows I am interested in doing what’s best for the client and being as knowledgeable as possible,” Chris explains.
A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Chris has actively invested in both Phoenix and certain areas in Florida for the past several years, and is a member of the Arizona Real Estate Investors Association, Phoenix Real Estate Club and the Phoenix Association of Realtors. He earned his Arizona real estate license in 2011.
Credit adherence to a “good, old-fashioned work ethic” as well as deep familiarity with the Phoenix market and a keen understanding of economic indicators for Fred Hackett’s success as a Realtor. Fred obtained his Arizona real estate license in 2001 and has been a multimillion-dollar producer every year since.
He has listed and sold homes throughout the Greater Phoenix metro area and areas as far-reaching as Tonopah, Anthem, Apache Junction and Casa Grande, among others. Not one to brag or boast, Fred says there’s no secret or magic in what he does. But clearly, his negotiating skills, perseverance and dedication pay big dividends for his clients, whether investors or those looking to buy or sell their primary residence. “When there is loyalty from a client, I will go to the ends of the earth for him or her,” says Fred, who makes himself available to meet their needs, whatever the day or time. Clients can be assured that Fred continues to go the extra mile to broaden his skill set and stay on top of trends and issues.
In addition to membership in the National Association of Realtors, his credentials include the ABR (Accredited Buyer’s Representative) and CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert) designations. Fred, who has lived in the East Valley in Ahwatukee, Chandler and now Gilbert since coming to Arizona from Iowa, is bullish on the Phoenix and Arizona markets, which he says definitely are on the upswing. “2014 will be a year of appreciation and growth, with plenty of opportunities for buyers,” he predicts.
A savvy trend watcher, Fred notes that over the last decade, real estate has outperformed the Dow, S&P and NASDAQ to deliver positive return on investment. In Iowa, where he was born and attended college, Fred was a successful business owner and entrepreneur. Upon moving to Arizona, he began his real estate career and worked for RE/MAX for 12 years before joining Gerchick Real Estate, where he is a residential specialist.

After four years of college at Hampden-Sydney, Cornell and George Mason Universities Derick found a career in the hotel business where he worked for both Marriott and Red Lion Hotels for nearly 20 years. While at La Posada Derick was first a member and eventually President of the Valley Innkeeper’s Association as well as an active member of the Scottsdale Chamber’s Visitors Industry Action Committee.
