Gerchick Real Estate
Linda Gerchick is the dynamic visionary who has made Gerchick Real Estate one of the top-producing and top-grossing commercial real estate brokerages in Phoenix since its opening. Linda has been Realtor for nearly 20 years, but her involvement in real estate goes back much further. She bought her first investment property at age 17 and has continued to buy and sell land and property ever since.
In addition, she also amassed a wealth of business experience as a successful breeder and seller of Arabian horses for many years before turning her passion for real estate into the career that defines and drives her today. It was during that time she developed and honed her ability to work well with both seasoned and first-time investors, selling horses to a wide range of clients – from the Prince of Saudi Arabia to small rural families. She also learned the art of negotiating from a master: legendary American businessman Dr. Armand Hammer.
Now, with a reputation as a fair but tough and skilled negotiator possessing an uncanny grasp of market trends, Linda delivers her commercial real estate clients – both buyers and sellers – the best deals possible to make them the most profit. She is very tightly dialed into the market through a vast and carefully vetted network of professionals and use of cutting-edge technology that allows her and her company to mine the immense amount of data necessary to anticipate rather than simply react to the market’s shifts.
Linda was born in Nebraska, raised in Phoenix and has lived in the Valley of the Sun most of her life. As a real estate agent, she was affiliated first with Prudential and later RE/MAX and Keller Williams. Linda learned the value of teamwork early on, and led a group of commercial investment agents at RE/MAX to rankings of #2 and #4 with Commercial Closed Sales in the world, two consecutive years. Keller Williams Commercial recruited her in 2009 to head up the Northeast Valley office’s commercial division, and in 2010 she was tapped by the PTE Real Estate Group to join US Investment Realty and spearhead a newly formed commercial division for the company. She later branched out to open her own brokerage, Linda Gerchick Real Estate, headquartered in North Phoenix.
Linda has been a part of the elite CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) group since 2005, attesting to her commitment to her clients and their bottom line. The CCIM designation requires intense study of a rigorous curriculum, documentation of a high level of successful real estate transactions and comprehensive examination, followed by continuing education to keep each CCIM on top of the industry’s regulations, swift changes and refinements. It also means connection with a global network of CCIM members and other brokers and developers around the country who help Linda and her company source and finance various commercial real estate opportunities, mostly in the multifamily arena. Linda has sold more than 2,000 four-plexes and a plethora of apartment buildings, office buildings and retail centers, among other properties.
She has given seminars throughout Arizona, California and Canada, sharing her extensive knowledge. She provides free tools and information to investors and has hosted many on visits to explore and invest in the Phoenix market.
For Linda, it all comes down to relationships and helping people make their portfolios grow. “I believe in developing an ongoing relationship with my clients, based on trust and the knowledge that my company and I always have their best interests in mind. That’s why our clients are so loyal to us and keep coming back, deal after deal,” she says.
Linda also has engendered a loyalty from her agents and assistants, through her belief in sharing what she has learned and celebrating each success as a group. “Teachable moments” give her the opportunity to impress upon her agents and staff the whys and wherefores of doing business – the right way, lifting the credibility of the brokerage, but more important, the entire industry.
“I am very proud of my staff, very proud of my agents and, frankly, I give myself a pat on the back. It’s because of all of us working together so well, and with such commitment to excellence, that our office is continuing to grow,” she says. “This brokerage’s success – and the success of each individual – depends on having knowledgeable professionals who are dedicated to building lasting relationships with our clients and providing the highest level of service, every single day. That’s what we do. You can depend on it.”

Matthew Peterson joined Gerchick Real Estate in 2013 as a Licensed Assistant to Linda. Originally born and raised in Oregon, Matthew chose to leave the northwest in order to attend college at Arizona State University where he is a graduate of the WP Carey School of Business with a B.S. in Economics.
Prior to joining Gerchick Real Estate, Matthew spent three successful years in the banking and finance industry as well as started several small businesses eventually finding a passion for commercial real estate.
Matthew’s decision to join Gerchick Real Estate was driven by their proven success in commercial real estate and the dedication and support they give each and every client. Matthew’s background in business and finance are a valuable asset in his role as a Licensed Assistant to Linda Gerchick and to the Gerchick Real Estate team.
When not in the office, Matthew enjoys spending time traveling with his family.
Joe Ackerman brings some four decades of experience in real estate – including sales, consulting and investing – to Team Gerchick, where he specializes in both residential and commercial work.
Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Joe has lived in the U.S. since 1956 and has been involved in real estate since he was in his 20s. One of his first jobs was with Tom Fannin and Associates in Phoenix, where he sold commercial property. Later, he owned and operated successful restaurants in Colorado and Nebraska, while at the same time continuing his involvement in real estate through buying farms and flipping houses. Real estate deals and vacations brought Joe and his family back to Phoenix and they fell in love with the area, moving “home” in 2011.
Joe receives great satisfaction from using his vast experience to quickly match clients with the perfect property to fit their goals and needs. “I listen well and really look out for the best interests of the client, whether that is the buyer or the seller,” Joe says. He is equally comfortable working with mom-and-pops and bigger investors.
Joe finds the small, bustling office of Team Gerchick – led by the “super-knowledgeable and dynamic” Linda Gerchick – particularly in tune with his skill set and work ethic. “It’s a great environment” both for staff and clients, he says. Joe and his wife of 32 years, Marisol, reside in their “dream home” in Florence. They are parents to two grown children, who live in Denver.
Two weeks into (“JT”) Jeff Tothill’s first real estate job, a clueless supervisor counseled him to try his hand at a different career. A confident and determined JT took his talents elsewhere, quickly making his mark as the No. 1 agent at his new brokerage. That was the beginning of a successful real estate career that has spanned more than 20 years and some 1,800 sales in Michigan and Arizona.
JT, a New York native who is a residential sales specialist for Gerchick Real Estate, says that besides his extensive real estate knowledge, the keys to his success are his people skills, negotiating ability and passion for helping others. At Gerchick Real Estate, that means getting to know his clients and what they want, guiding them to a deal that matches their needs and will appreciate in value, then helping them through all aspects of the transaction. JT likes “taking a ‘no’ to a ‘maybe,’ and then to a ‘yes’ – I’m used to happy endings.”
JT started his real estate career in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he earlier attended the University of Michigan before transferring to the University of Hawaii. After leaving Hawaii, he spent several years as an entrepreneur, jewelry wholesaler and gift shop owner before finding his true calling in real estate. He now lives in Scottsdale.
Residential specialist Elizabeth Yashar is the kind of real estate agent every client wants: one who loves a challenge and won’t give up until she delivers the best possible deal. That comes both from knowing a client’s needs and goals – and having an astute understanding of the market she serves.
The Indiana native has been giving her all for clients in Arizona since getting her real estate license in 1996, after moving from California to be nearer family. Living first in Chandler and now Tempe, she has witnessed the ups and downs – and now, the ups again – of the metro Phoenix market and knows how to read the indicators.
“I’m an excellent problem solver,” says Elizabeth, “and I enjoy helping people.” Those skills and her industry knowledge have ensured her a busy schedule throughout her career as a residential agent, and that’s just the way she likes it. It’s one of the things that drew her to Gerchick Real Estate, along with the brokerage’s reputation for honesty, integrity and careful attention to its clients. “It’s exciting to me to be part of a company and team whose principles match the way I do business,” she says.
Prior to starting her real estate career, Elizabeth studied at Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo, Calif., and worked for a time in the restaurant industry. She also did property management in Newport Beach, managing beachfront and executive home rentals. After moving to the Phoenix area and gaining her Arizona real estate license, Elizabeth worked as a residential agent for RE/MAX for 12 years. She also has a loan originator’s license for Arizona and California.
Chris Norton is still learning, and he doesn’t plan to change that – ever.
It makes him even more valuable as a member of the Gerchick Real Estate team.
Chris has a B.S. degree from Drexel University, with a major in computer science and minor in film & video production, both are skill sets he has found useful for a real estate career. He also has spent the last several years gathering valuable real-life, in the streets know-how in real estate as a private investor.
Chris has made it a point to surround himself with people of “vastly superior experience” in real estate investing to make the most of his learning and investment opportunities. He has been personally mentored on seller-financing strategies for single-family properties from John Burley, learned about tax liens and tax deed investing from Jack Bosch, studied multifamily strategies from Dave Lindahl and note investing under Eddie Speed.
Experience matters, especially in a dynamic, changing market like Phoenix, he says.
“I have a keen interest in multifamily,” Chris says. “I think it’s a phenomenal cash-flow investment vehicle and want to accelerate my learning and experience on the subject. What better way to do that than to join a firm like Gerchick Real Estate with an expert like Linda Gerchick at its helm?”
Even if a subject is outside his “niche,” he is interested in learning more about it. “There’s always a nugget you can take away and apply to what you’re doing,” and that demonstrates the level of commitment he has for understanding his clients’ needs. “It shows I am interested in doing what’s best for the client and being as knowledgeable as possible,” Chris explains.
A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Chris has actively invested in both Phoenix and certain areas in Florida for the past several years, and is a member of the Arizona Real Estate Investors Association, Phoenix Real Estate Club and the Phoenix Association of Realtors. He earned his Arizona real estate license in 2011.

She watched Linda’s team grow and thrive during the “downturn” as other agents struggled to maintain position. Linda appreciated Michelle’s organizational skills, work ethic, great attitude and dedication. As a second generation Arizonan, Michelle has witnessed the spectacular growth and development of the greater Phoenix Area, which gives her an unique perspective on our market.
